Hands-On Data Engineering Manager – 3 Engineers

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and provide support to a small team of engineers focused on data-intensive systems and services.

• Steer the technical direction and execution of projects involving the processing, modeling, or exposure of large-scale datasets.

• Promote robust engineering practices that enhance system reliability, data accuracy, performance, and maintainability.

• Offer technical advice and mentorship, aiding engineers in their growth related to architecture, system design, and data modeling.

• Remain technically engaged through activities such as code reviews, architecture discussions, and coding tasks.

• Work closely with Product and other teams to ensure systems achieve significant product outcomes.

• Enhance engineering processes and team practices to boost transparency, alignment, and delivery speed.

• Contribute to the evolution of our data and platform architecture, focusing on scalability and operational simplicity.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in building and maintaining production systems.

• Proven experience leading engineers or technical projects (e.g., as a Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, or Engineering Manager).

• Exceptional Senior, Staff, or Tech Lead engineers with substantial technical leadership experience are encouraged to apply.

• Comfortable remaining technically active while leading a team.

• Experience with data platforms, distributed systems, or large-scale data pipelines.

• Strong knowledge of system design, scalability, and operational reliability.

• Familiarity with contemporary data tools such as Snowflake, dbt, Dagster, or similar technologies is a significant advantage.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills that foster clarity, ownership, and trust within the team.

• Fluent in English and located in the European time zone (UTC+0 to UTC+2).
