
Habeas Mentoring Attorney, Part-time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
β’ Assist the IJC team and our pro bono attorney volunteers in our habeas initiatives.
β’ Collect information and resources pertaining to habeas across various jurisdictions in the United States.
β’ Aid in mentoring attorney volunteers on habeas-related cases.
β’ Conduct research and compile information and resources about habeas in multiple jurisdictions across the United States.
β’ Develop and revise manuals, practice advisories, examples, and other materials to aid attorney volunteers engaged in habeas cases.
β’ Ensure that habeas-related materials are consistently updated as required.
β’ Provide support to volunteers by responding to inquiries and offering guidance on habeas matters.
β’ Engage in training webinars on habeas as necessary.
β’ Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
β’ Active membership and in good standing with a U.S. state bar.
β’ Membership in at least one federal district court bar.
β’ Preferred admission to and experience with at least one Texas district court.
β’ Required experience with immigration habeas.
β’ Strong commitment to the mission of the Immigration Justice Campaign and the American Immigration Council.
β’ Proficient research abilities.
β’ Exceptional writing and editing capabilities.
β’ Skill in guiding and mentoring fellow attorneys.
β’ Keen attention to detail.
β’ Ability to prioritize and manage competing demands and multiple assignments through effective time management.
β’ Flexibility to adjust to evolving priorities, strategies, and circumstances.
β’ The Council will provide a laptop and other necessary equipment to perform the job.
