This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Design, create, implement, test, and sustain moderately complex web-based and distributed applications.
• Assist in project deliverables, coding, system testing, and technical documentation in alignment with IT standards.
• Produce system documentation that includes structure charts, screen designs, data flow diagrams, file layouts, report layouts, and job run descriptions.
• Evaluate business challenges and assess information systems.
• Diagnose and resolve issues in testing, development, or production settings.
• Draft procedures and technical documentation.
• Work collaboratively with business partners, developers, product teams, and other stakeholders on design concepts and project initiatives.
• Completion of college coursework in Computer Science or Information Systems.
• Proven experience in distributed and/or web-based system development.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as COBOL II or J2E.
• Familiarity with database management systems including IMS DB, DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, or Access.
• Experience in web development using HTML.
• Understanding of structured systems analysis, design, programming, and testing.
• Knowledge of mainframe and/or distributed computing fundamentals and concepts.
• Competence in analyzing business problems.
• Strong analytical and investigative skills.
• Effective communication in a business context.
• Capability to assess information systems and comprehend interdependencies between components.
• Aptitude for troubleshooting and resolving problems across test, development, or production environments.
• Skillful in writing procedures and technical documentation.
• Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
• Background check and drug screening required upon receiving a job offer.
• Consistent and reliable attendance is mandatory.
• Occasional travel may be necessary for meetings, collaborative efforts, or team-building activities.
• Preferred bachelor's degree in UI/UX Design, Human-Centered Design, Interaction Design, Product Design, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Relevant coursework, internship, academic projects, volunteer work, or professional experience in user interface, user experience, or digital product design.
• A portfolio or samples of work showcasing wireframing, prototyping, visual design, user research, or web/mobile design experience.
• Familiarity with tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, or similar software.
• Basic knowledge of user-centered design, usability principles, responsive design, information architecture, accessibility, or design systems.
• Ability to gather feedback and convert user or business needs into coherent design concepts.
• Proficiency in communicating design ideas and collaborating with business partners, developers, product teams, and stakeholders.
• Understanding of Agile, iterative design, or software and product development methodologies.
