📋 Description

• Develop and execute a comprehensive three-year legacy strategy aimed at achieving net zero carbon objectives to significantly enhance legacy giving across all segments of the Church of England, including local parishes, regional Dioceses, and cathedrals.

• Equip parishes, cathedrals, and dioceses with the necessary tools, training, and confidence to advocate for legacy giving, which includes the creation of new marketing and administrative resources, free will services, and customized training for local volunteers, clergy, and senior leadership.

• Spearhead and implement a national public relations and digital communications campaign to facilitate the nationwide launch of the legacy giving strategy in partnership with the Directorate’s Marketing Manager, including gathering narratives about the influence that legacy gifts have on our churches and the communities they serve.

• Initiate in-memory giving programs within local churches.

• Collaborate with the National Giving Data Analyst to develop data dashboards and financial projections to assess impact and promote ongoing support and investment in legacy fundraising.

• Review analyses and reports within the legacy sector to pinpoint benchmarking, forecasts, and trends.

• Serve as a national contact point for parishes, cathedrals, Dioceses, and occasionally executors regarding legacy giving inquiries, encompassing both marketing and administrative aspects.

• Act as a representative of the Church of England, showcasing expertise in legacy fundraising within the Religious Sector alongside other denominations, Christian-focused charities, various charities, and the Chartered Institute of Fundraising.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in managing a successful gifts in wills giving program.

• Strong comprehension of individuals’ motivations for making gifts in their wills and the capability to apply these principles within the context of the Church of England.

• Experience in developing marketing materials for gifts in wills.

• Proficient in creating training materials and delivering effective training, preferably related to gifts in wills fundraising.

• Experience in managing a fundraising communications campaign, ideally connected to gifts in wills fundraising.

• Proven track record in executing a medium to long-term strategy.

• Background in legacy administration.

• Exceptional communication skills, both in-person, in writing, and online.

• Strong influencing capabilities with the ability to cultivate effective relationships with volunteers, clergy, and individuals with limited or no experience in legacy fundraising, as well as with senior leaders.

• Highly organized with outstanding project management abilities.

• Creative and adept at problem-solving to take advantage of opportunities and navigate challenges.

• Tactful and sensitive to the nuances surrounding legacy giving.

• An ethical approach, aligned with the Christian faith and compliant with all relevant legislation, including the Fundraising Regulator Code of Fundraising Practice.

• Ability to convey how legacy giving represents a natural expression of the Christian faith and an embodiment of Christian discipleship.

• Highly self-motivated and proactive, as the role requires a degree of independent work.

• Capable of collaborating across a diverse and geographically dispersed organization.

• Willingness to travel occasionally for work purposes across England.
