General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, Data Privacy Officer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Ensure that the company's operations comply with relevant international, national, and local laws and regulations.

• Identify, assess, and manage legal risks across various jurisdictions.

• Establish and uphold policies and procedures aimed at minimizing legal risks.

• Utilize AI-driven compliance monitoring tools to monitor regulatory changes across jurisdictions in real time.

• Draft, review, and negotiate a diverse range of contracts, including commercial agreements, employment contracts, vendor agreements, and partnership agreements.

• Provide guidance on corporate governance best practices and ensure adherence to board governance frameworks.

• Develop security-related policies and compliance frameworks in close collaboration with IT/CISO.

• Oversee and manage litigation, arbitration, or disputes, coordinating with external counsel as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• JD, LLB, or an equivalent degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

• Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; multi-jurisdictional licensure is preferred.

• 5-7 years of experience in a comparable role with international exposure within a multinational corporation or law firm.

• Demonstrated experience in or alongside a Data Privacy Officer function, with practical ownership of GDPR compliance.

• Proven track record in managing internal controls frameworks and regulatory compliance programs (CCO-equivalent experience).

• Strong understanding of international business law, regulations, and best practices.

• Exceptional skills in negotiation, drafting, and communication.

• Strong organizational and project management abilities; capable of managing external counsel and legal budgets.
