This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Provide guidance and support to staff regarding reconsideration reviews, appeals, complaints, grievances, incidents, and inquiries/investigations/audits conducted by regulatory bodies.
• Create and evaluate contracts and agreements with state agencies, counties, providers, vendors, stakeholders, or other entities and individuals.
• Manage the appeals unit, which oversees all internal reviews of appeals related to agency decisions, including actions on authorization requests, interactions with providers, and claims denial appeals.
• Prepare employees for depositions and court appearances, address subpoenas aimed at the organization and/or its employees, and liaise with judicial and legal authorities.
• Supervise document requests under the NC Public Records law and provide assistance as needed for responses to external requests for information from governmental or non-governmental entities.
• Direct the management and oversight of Trillium’s subcontracting of Tailored Plan core services to ensure compliance with Trillium’s Tailored Plan contract and associated NC DHHS guidelines, laws, rules, and regulations.
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA accredited law school.
• A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible legal experience in healthcare, managed care, and/or federal or state government representing a health plan or provider, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
• Must be a licensed attorney in good standing in North Carolina.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Residency within North Carolina is mandatory.
• Ability to travel within the catchment area as needed.
• Specialization in Medicaid, managed care, behavioral health, and/or administrative law is preferred.
