General Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Act as the senior legal executive and strategic advisor for the Company

• Direct all legal, regulatory, compliance, governance, risk management, litigation, and transactional affairs

• Offer practical, business-focused legal advice

• Supervise the Legal Department and coordinate with external counsel

• Counsel on legal, regulatory, operational, financial, reputational, and compliance risks

• Structure transactions to mitigate risks while promoting business growth initiatives

• Lead enterprise legal risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies

• Manage internal legal staff responsible for litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution

• Provide strategic insights on employment-related matters

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a law school accredited by the ABA

• Active license and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

• At least 10-12 years of pertinent legal experience

• Extensive in-house legal leadership experience, ideally as Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, or a senior law firm partner

• Proficiency in overseeing mergers and acquisitions, litigation, employment law, regulatory compliance, and commercial transactions

• Proven experience in leading and developing legal teams

• Required experience in the insurance industry
