This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Lead the legal department.
• Oversee and mentor a team of 3 attorneys, establishing clear priorities and ensuring equitable work distribution.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and constructive feedback within the group.
• Encourage the professional growth of each team member and strategize for the team's expansion as the business evolves.
• Define the legal team's strategy and objectives in alignment with SoSafe's overall corporate goals.
• Stay informed about the market's shift towards AI and its implications in the legal sector.
• Supervise all key legal operations: corporate governance, contracts, compliance, and regulatory risk management.
• Offer legal counsel and risk evaluations throughout the organization, serving as the ultimate escalation point for legal issues.
• Ensure that effective internal processes and policies are established and adhered to consistently.
• Track legislative and regulatory changes in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and EU-wide (e.g., GDPR, NIS2, EU AI Act) and convert these into actionable guidance for the organization.
• Act as a strategic ally to Sales, assisting the team in accelerating sales through support in quoting, offer, and contracting procedures.
• Collaborate closely with Information Security on legal and regulatory matters related to cybersecurity.
• Cultivate robust working relationships across various departments, positioning legal as an enabler rather than an obstacle.
• Manage the interaction and information flow between our external Data Protection Officer (DPO) and internal teams.
• Coordinate and oversee the engagement of external counsel as necessary.
• Over 8 years of post-qualification experience, with 3-5 years in a commercial or contracting setting.
• Demonstrated experience in leading and nurturing a team.
• Background in SaaS or another tech company, with a strong grasp of technical and commercial dynamics.
• Proven history of supporting Sales teams and navigating commercial deal cycles.
• Extensive expertise in data protection law.
• Preferred: experience in cybersecurity, collaboration with Information Security teams, familiarity with intellectual property law, and experience with distributed/remote teams.
• 2nd German State Examination (Volljurist).
• Proficient in both German and English (written and spoken).
