This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Construct and oversee a cross-disciplinary legal function that encompasses regulatory matters, capital tokenization, business agreements, intricate intellectual property, and legal operations.
• Serve as a strategic legal advisor to senior internal specialists and external counsel — framing the inquiries, guiding their investigations, challenging their findings, and synthesizing their contributions into risk positions suitable for board review.
• Collaborate with internal senior legal experts and external counsel to design the legal architecture of the protocol.
• Develop, execute, and uphold the legal components of the Sky Agent Framework — covering entity structure, intellectual property and licensing, operational frameworks, collaboration, and enforcement mechanisms.
• Manage relationships with external counsel across the various substantive areas of the function.
• Create the operating architecture for the function, driven by AI and an accountability framework — including processes for intake, triage, matter tracking, team structure, leadership reporting, and integrating AI tools into workflows.
• Oversee the daily legal operations pipeline — prioritize the team's tasks, review outputs, elevate quality standards, and establish reusable templates and playbooks.
• Formulate and sustain a coherent regulatory strategy that anticipates the shifting landscape of DeFi and TradFi, translating regulatory risks into clear guidance for the organization.
• Act as the expert legal advisor on regulatory exposure and lead significant interactions with regulators.
• Manage critical regulatory relationships across relevant jurisdictions, with a particular emphasis on US frameworks governing digital assets, securities, and financial services.
• Minimum of 7 years of post-qualification legal experience, including at least 3 years in a senior legal leadership position (General Counsel, Deputy GC, or similar).
• At least 5 years of experience with US regulatory matters.
• Over 3 years of practical legal experience in DeFi/crypto.
• Demonstrated success in establishing or expanding a legal function within a high-growth environment.
