General Adjuster

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct investigations into claims made against insurance companies or other entities for personal, casualty, or property damage or loss;

• Manage complex local losses independently within designated authority limits;

• Assist with larger claims, including those related to accounting, such as business interruption and inventory losses;

• Review claim forms and associated documentation to ascertain insurance coverage;

• Engage with claimants and witnesses through interviews, phone calls, or written correspondence regarding the claim;

• Consult police and hospital records, and assess property damage to evaluate the company's liability while employing various investigative methods based on the type of insurance;

• Estimate costs for repair, replacement, or compensation;

• Compile findings into a report and negotiate settlements with claimants;

• Suggest legal action to the legal department when a settlement cannot be reached;

• Attend litigation hearings;

• Adjust case reserves in assigned claims files to account for anticipated costs;

• Aid in the preparation of loss experience reports to assess profitability and determine appropriate future rates.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred;

• Must have obtained the IIA-AIC designation and be actively pursuing an additional professional insurance designation;

• A valid state adjuster license is mandatory;

• A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience or a suitable combination of education and experience is required.
