This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +3 more states.
• Perform expert genealogical research with a focus on the U.S. Mid-South and Southern regions.
• Assess resource accessibility rapidly by evaluating research feasibility, identifying sources, and communicating effectively when research is not viable.
• Create well-crafted research logs, reports, and regular updates for clients that adhere to company standards.
• Manage 30-60 client tasks after successful onboarding and training, outlining the scope, budget, and resource needs for each project.
• Leverage exceptional organizational skills to ensure smooth session operations and delegate tasks to the most qualified researchers.
• Apply sound judgment to guarantee deliverables meet the quality standards set by the company, industry, and clients, while adhering to session budgets and ensuring client satisfaction—even when project objectives are not achieved.
• Maintain an average of 6 billable hours daily and meet annual billable hour goals.
• Effectively provide and receive constructive feedback.
• Work closely with Research Managers during each session to ensure the success of projects.
• Support Research Managers in establishing clear client expectations, providing updates every 4-6 weeks, and promptly addressing any concerns or questions from clients and staff.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in genealogical research.
• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in History, English, or a related field.
• Specialized knowledge in U.S. genealogical research, particularly in Mid-South and Southern states.
• Proficient in utilizing DNA test results to tackle genealogical research challenges.
• Advanced understanding of brick wall research techniques and evidence evaluation.
• Capable of managing multiple projects at once.
• Experienced in producing research logs/journals, citations, and abstracts, including analysis, writing narrative reports, drafting research plans, and conducting research within budget constraints.
• Experienced in client communication, setting expectations, and resolving conflicts.
• Comfortable working collaboratively and providing feedback and guidance to team members.
