Game Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.

📋 Description

• Lead the game design process within a small, cross-functional team dedicated to creating an educational game for children.

• Develop core gameplay mechanics and engaging moment-to-moment interactions that are enjoyable while providing educational value.

• Take ownership of features from initial concept through to release and subsequent iterations post-launch.

• Drive key metrics related to player retention and engagement.

• Design onboarding experiences and initial gameplay sessions to enhance early player retention.

• Create and balance the game's economy, which includes currencies, sources, sinks, reward curves, and pacing of progression.

• Plan live operations, seasonal events, recurring gameplay loops, and sustainable content delivery schedules.

• Write comprehensive Game Design Documents (GDDs), product specifications, and workflow diagrams ready for implementation.

• Establish success metrics, forecast the impact of features, and analyze results in collaboration with the Product Manager and analysts.

• Partner with the Product Manager to develop the roadmap and suggest features that focus on metrics.

• Work alongside academic experts to ensure that educational objectives are achieved through gameplay.

• Utilize AI tools such as prompting, text-to-speech, speech-to-speech, and rapid prototyping.

• Conduct playtests, learn from them, carry out UX research hypotheses, analyze competitors, and enhance gameplay experiences.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Generalist Game Designer, preferably in free-to-play mobile gaming.

• A strong sense of fun, with a focus on player retention, engagement, and effective onboarding.

• Practical experience in designing game economies, including currency sources and sinks, reward curves, and balancing mechanisms.

• Capability to independently write detailed GDDs, product specifications, and workflows that are build-ready.

• Proficiency in analytics and a solid understanding of essential free-to-play metrics.

• Ability to formulate hypotheses regarding feature impacts and interpret post-launch data effectively.

• Excellent command of English (minimum B2); all meetings and documentation are conducted in English.

• Significant advantage: experience with live operations, including seasons, events, recurring gameplay loops, and content scheduling.

• Significant advantage: background in EdTech or products aimed at children.

• Significant advantage: familiarity with AI technologies, strong prompting abilities, experience with text-to-speech or speech-to-speech tools, and proficiency in AI for rapid prototyping.
