• Assist in ensuring the safety and reliability of autonomous robotic vehicle systems.
• Recognize hazards and risks through Systems Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA).
• Aid in defining safety requirements and implementing safety measures throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed safety into design, development, verification, and validation processes.
• Ensure adherence to relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Foster a robust culture of safety and compliance within the organization.
• Contribute to the formulation of functional safety concepts and requirements for autonomous vehicle control systems.
• Perform safety analyses, including STPA, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
• Work with hardware and software engineering teams to guarantee appropriate allocation of safety requirements within the design and development stages.
• Review safety verification and validation efforts, such as safety testing and simulation.
• Create and maintain safety documentation, including safety plans, safety cases, and safety reports.
• Engage in both internal and external safety audits and assessments.
• Offer technical guidance and support to project teams regarding functional safety issues.
• Stay updated on advancements in functional safety practices and technologies related to autonomous vehicles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Science, or a related discipline.
• Relevant certifications such as Certified Functional Safety Expert (CFSE), Certified Functional Safety Professional (CFSP), Automotive Functional Safety Professional (AFSP), Functional Safety Engineer, or similar credentials are highly desirable.
• 3-8 years of experience in functional safety engineering, ideally in robotics, automotive, heavy machinery, mining equipment, or agricultural machinery sectors.
• Practical experience with functional safety activities utilizing STPA.
• Solid understanding of functional safety standards.
• Foundational skills in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks through STPA, FMEA, and FTA.
• Familiarity with safety lifecycle processes and safety integrity levels.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for tackling complex safety and compliance challenges.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and documentation skills to uphold safety records and compliance documentation.
• Capability to analyze safety data, conduct risk assessments, and pinpoint opportunities for improvement.
• Proven leadership skills, including guiding cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders at various levels.
• Proficient in presenting and summarizing reports and technical analyses for leadership, clients, and regulatory bodies.
