This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• You will spearhead the design and development of features that encompass the entire technology stack, from React-based frontend applications to backend services, APIs, and data layers.
• Collaborating closely with Product, UX, and Engineering teams, you will gain insights into user needs, make informed technical decisions, and deliver high-quality software that addresses real-world challenges.
• You will take full ownership of features from inception to deployment. You are adept at creating intuitive frontend experiences while also being proficient in backend services, databases, and distributed systems.
• You will mentor and support fellow engineers, contributing to elevating the quality standards within the team through code reviews, pair programming, and providing technical leadership.
• You will introduce innovative technologies and methodologies to the team and assist the organization in their effective adoption. You are mindful of the impact AI has on software development and how to harness it to enhance outcomes.
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline.
• Significant professional experience in software development, with a proven track record of designing, building, and evolving complex software systems over several years: 6+ years for Staff, 10+ years for Principal.
• A strong understanding of software design principles, patterns, and best practices.
• Proficiency in one or more backend JVM languages, such as Java, Kotlin, or Scala.
• Experience with databases like Postgres.
• Expertise in developing large frontend applications using React or TypeScript is preferred.
• Capability to work effectively across both frontend and backend codebases, managing features from start to finish.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
• Proven leadership capabilities, with the talent to guide and mentor junior engineers.
• Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective work within a cross-functional team environment.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies and tools, such as Scrum or Kanban.
