This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Write high-quality production code for clearly defined tasks.
• Adhere to the coding standards and processes established by the team.
• Engage in design reviews to understand and apply best practices.
• Create and maintain unit and integration tests.
• Identify and resolve basic issues through debugging.
• Actively seek feedback and utilize it for personal improvement.
• Develop APIs, automation tools, and systems that enhance platform integration.
• Construct and sustain monitoring and alert systems for various services.
• Collaborate with application teams to boost reliability and performance.
• Design and manage scalable systems across data centers, edge devices, and cloud environments.
• Partner with BNSF teams to develop products that enhance rail network operations.
• Innovate within distributed computing to drive transformation in the industry.
• Create solutions for high-speed, large-scale predictions within distributed systems.
• Tackle broad challenges by coding effective solutions in an agile setting.
• Exhibit operational excellence by monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues, including participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• A Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related field, or 2 years of relevant software development experience without a Bachelor's degree.
• Proficient in programming with at least one modern language (e.g., Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, etc.).
• Experience in developing, testing, and deploying high-quality software in production environments.
• Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
• Knowledge of secure coding practices.
• Capability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
• Experience in participating in design reviews, incident retrospectives, or RFC processes.
• Proven ability to quickly learn new technical concepts and adapt to emerging technologies.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
