Full-Stack Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Croatia.

📋 Description

• Engage actively in Scrum ceremonies, such as daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and planning sessions.

• Design, develop, test, and sustain backend functionalities utilizing Java/Spring Boot and frontend functionalities with React/Next.js.

• Enhance the current production codebase by minimizing technical debt and boosting maintainability.

• Refactor intricate legacy components while ensuring thorough automated test coverage.

• Produce clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code that adheres to engineering best practices.

• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, QA, and Engineers to deliver features aimed at customers.

• Work with QA to create end-to-end tests and manage the entire feature lifecycle from planning to production deployment.

• Review code, offer constructive feedback, and elevate engineering standards.

• Take ownership of features from implementation through deployment and ongoing production support.

• Identify avenues for technical enhancements and process optimization.

• Remain updated with contemporary development practices and leverage AI-powered development tools to enhance productivity and code quality.

• Deliver reliable, scalable, and maintainable software that adds business value.

• Participate in recruitment processes by serving on interview panels for prospective roles.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of professional software development experience in building and maintaining production applications.

• Strong practical expertise with Java 11+, Spring Boot, and contemporary backend development.

• Experience in working with both legacy systems and modernized architectures.

• Significant expertise in React, TypeScript, and Next.js.

• Solid experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, encompassing SQL development, data modeling, and performance optimization.

• Familiarity with JPA/Hibernate and database migration tools like Flyway or comparable alternatives.

• Proven track record of maintaining and modernizing substantial existing codebases while continuing to deliver new customer-facing features.

• Strong dedication to writing and maintaining automated tests, particularly during the refactoring of legacy code.

• Capability to safely refactor complex systems, enhance code quality, and lower technical debt without disrupting production.

• Experience utilizing modern AI coding tools for AI-assisted code reviews, test generation, context management, or custom development agents.

• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate within cross-functional Agile teams.

• Ability to independently manage features from design through production deployment while upholding high engineering standards.

• Legal authorization to work in the country of residence, validated by documentation.
