Full-Stack Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• You will assist in designing, constructing, and maintaining data solutions that drive reporting and decision-making throughout the organization.

• Developing and sustaining data pipelines utilizing Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Cloud Composer, Cloud Scheduler).

• Cleaning, transforming, and organizing data from various sources (APIs, spreadsheets, internal systems).

• Automating ETL / ELT workflows to enhance reliability and efficiency.

• Writing Python (and some Bash) scripts to facilitate data processing and support internal tools.

• Creating and managing dashboards and KPI reports using Looker Studio (along with addressing data visualization needs).

• Preparing datasets for basic predictive or forecasting use cases as the team progresses.

• This position is hands-on — you will be writing code, resolving issues, enhancing pipelines, and witnessing your contributions utilized by real teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• You possess over 2 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, data science, or software engineering.

• You are proficient in working with GCP, particularly BigQuery.

• You confidently use Python for data processing and automation tasks.

• You have strong SQL capabilities and a fundamental understanding of data modeling.

• You have previously built or maintained data pipelines (either batch or streaming).

• You have experience with dashboards or BI tools (Looker / Looker Studio preferred).

• You enjoy engaging in both technical backend responsibilities and user-facing reporting activities.

• Experience with Apache Airflow / Cloud Composer.

• Exposure to Apache Beam.

• Familiarity with Vertex AI, AutoML, or basic ML workflows.

• Experience in supporting operational or healthcare data.
