Senior Data Engineer – Contractual

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee and enhance the performance of Snowflake data warehouses.

• Revamp warehouse efficiency using materialization strategies, dynamic tables, and clustering optimizations.

• Create scalable ETL/ELT pipelines utilizing dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, and AWS DMS.

• Develop ingestion pipelines with DMS and Fivetran.

• Establish modeling layers in dbt applying medallion architecture principles.

• Convert raw data into clean, dependable, and business-ready models using dbt and AI-assisted documentation and testing tools.

• Integrate data from various sources, such as CRM systems, payment platforms, gaming platforms, and additional operational systems.

• Lead initiatives aimed at improving data quality and monitoring, including anomaly detection and automated alerting.

• Oversee and enhance platform performance, cost-effectiveness, and security.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in product development, data, operations, and analytics.

• Work alongside the data science team and assist colleagues with reporting and analytics as needed.

• Aid the organization in transitioning to real-time data ingestion and ETL using technologies such as DMS, Kafka, and Kinesis.

• Help guide and mentor fellow engineers within the team.

• Contribute to the team's AI strategy and advocate for the effective use of AI tools in engineering workflows.

• Generate and maintain clear, thorough documentation to ensure scalability, transparency, and long-term platform sustainability.

• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, proactively addressing any obstacles encountered.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in Data Engineering.

• Strong hands-on expertise with AWS.

• Profound understanding of ELT design and data warehousing best practices.

• Expert-level knowledge in optimizing Snowflake.

• Proficient in dbt (macros, testing, modularization).

• Excellent skills in SQL and Python.

• Familiar with CI/CD processes and Git.

• Experience using AI coding assistants to enhance efficiency.
