Full Stack AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the development of features within DataTalk’s React frontend, Python/FastAPI backend, PostgreSQL database, and AI components.

• Enhance natural-language query processing, information retrieval, and the precision of answers and visualizations.

• Assist in the onboarding workflows for customers, manage data connectors, and facilitate data ingestion.

• Aid in improving security measures, such as authentication, access controls, customer data isolation, and query protections.

• Diagnose bugs, boost performance, and sustain automated tests and AI assessments.

• Work collaboratively with the lead developer and project manager to outline tasks, review code, document modifications, and provide updates.

• Help address issues faced by pilot customers and integrate their feedback into product enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience in professional software development.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• Proficient in Python, JavaScript or TypeScript, and SQL.

• Experience in creating interfaces using React, HTML/CSS, and API integrations.

• Background in developing or maintaining REST APIs with FastAPI or a similar framework.

• Practical experience in integrating an LLM API or developing an AI-driven application.

• Knowledge of relational databases like PostgreSQL and basic data cleaning and transformation techniques.

• Familiarity with Git, debugging techniques, automated testing, and secure coding practices.

• Capability to complete assigned development tasks with support from the lead developer.

• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new technologies.

• Excellent communication skills and dependable follow-through within a designated part-time schedule.

• U.S. work authorization is required.

• Ability to meet relevant federal client background investigation and Public Trust requirements, if applicable.

• Preferred: Knowledge of AWS, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, logging, or monitoring tools.

• Preferred: Exposure to retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings, vector databases, or natural-language-to-SQL systems.

• Preferred: Experience with pandas, data pipelines, or visualization tools like Plotly or Recharts.

• Preferred: Familiarity with multi-tenant applications, authentication processes, or role-based access controls.

• Preferred: Experience in testing AI outputs for accuracy and consistency.

• Preferred: Interest in analytics, government initiatives, or data related to transportation and aviation.
