Freelance Senior Drupal Developer – German-speaking

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Development - select your focus: Back-End: Drupal 10/11 setup and architecture, content modeling (Paragraphs, Layout Builder)

• Custom module creation: clean, well-documented, and maintainable

• Search API and Solr implementation, including PDF indexing and auto-complete features

• REST API integrations (third-party systems, appointment scheduling, AI interfaces)

• Webforms featuring complex calculation logic and CMS-manageable parameters

• Performance enhancement, security (OWASP), CI/CD, Composer, Git

• Front-End: Drupal theming using Twig and a component-based architecture

• Transforming designs into accessible, high-performance Drupal templates (WCAG 2.1 AA)

• Integration of design systems and pattern libraries

• JavaScript, CSS/SASS, and front-end performance tuning

• Close collaboration with back-end developers and UX/design teams

• Full-Stack: a blend of the aforementioned tasks based on project needs

• Participation in agile sprint teams

• Code reviews and technical documentation adhering to agency standards

⛳️ Requirements

• Native-level proficiency in German

• At least 5 years of experience with Drupal in your chosen area (Back-End, Front-End, or Full-Stack), preferably in a digital agency or similar setting

• Active expertise in Drupal 10/11 — not merely legacy experience

• Proven qualifications through at least one of the following: Acquia certification relevant to your track (Back End Specialist, Front End Specialist, or Certified Developer), OR an active Drupal.org profile with verifiable contributions to Drupal 10/11 modules or core, OR a public code portfolio (GitHub/GitLab) showcasing Drupal examples from the past 2 years

• Project experience in the public sector or with institutions

• Technical - Back-End: PHP 8.3+, object-oriented development, dependency injection, and Drupal services layer

• Technical - Front-End: Twig, Drupal theme architecture, and component-based development

• Technical - Full-Stack: strong knowledge in both mentioned areas

• Capability to transition between front-end and back-end tasks depending on project phase

• Reliability as a key attribute — deadlines are adhered to, and issues are communicated proactively

• Clean, well-documented code quality — you produce code that others can maintain

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment

• Interest in a long-term partnership rather than one-off projects
