This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Evaluate fraud vectors within SquareTrade's platform, encompassing both first-party and third-party fraud, to devise strategies that identify malicious actors and enhance user experience.
• Create and maintain metrics and KPIs to assess risk mitigation strategies and effectively communicate progress to key stakeholders and leadership.
• Take ownership of the fraud rule lifecycle for designated areas, which includes identifying opportunities, developing business cases, designing strategies, testing, deploying, monitoring, and ongoing optimization.
• Assess current rules and controls for redundancy, effectiveness, operational impact, and potential for simplification or enhancement.
• Collaborate with Fraud Operations to ensure alignment on policies, procedures, and investigative practices while addressing operational challenges.
• Contribute to cross-functional initiatives that promote fraud prevention and business growth while maintaining a focus on customer experience and operational efficiency.
• Persuade stakeholders throughout the organization to prioritize and implement fraud mitigation strategies that align risk reduction, operational efficiency, and customer experience.
• Leverage extensive complex data using analytical techniques to monitor customer behaviors, identify trends in fraudulent activity, and develop strategies to mitigate risk and enhance the customer experience.
• Anticipate new opportunities and strategies to fortify controls, processes, and systems.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to observe risk trends, apply industry best practices, and ensure compliance with regulatory obligations.
• Proven ability to independently identify issues, formulate hypotheses, and drive impactful solutions with minimal guidance.
• Excellent prioritization skills with the capacity to manage competing demands, navigate ambiguity, and make sound trade-off decisions aligned with business goals.
• Demonstrated experience in influencing cross-functional teams to adopt risk strategies, implement process changes, or enhance products.
• 3-5 years of experience in developing risk rules, strategies, policies, and procedures that guide user behavior, utilizing both internal and third-party capabilities from inception to completion.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including proficiency in SQL, Python, R, SAS, or similar tools to assess strategy performance and uncover opportunities.
• Proven ability to effectively engage with senior leaders and executives to present complex findings and outline progress, plans, and opportunities for addressing challenges.
• Experience with fraud prevention rule management systems, device profiling, customer verification, and document verification technologies.
