Founding Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop industry-specific GPTs that encapsulate domain expertise tailored for each operational sector.

• Integrate AI-native functionalities into AI-native systems of record while transforming core workflows.

• Transition datasets from outdated systems of record to new AI-native platforms.

• Establish a repeatable AI playbook, model stack, evaluation framework, and infrastructure for future portfolio enterprises.

• Deliver a functioning domain-specific agent in a live customer environment within the initial 30 days.

• Construct evaluation infrastructure to assess the capability of agents in replacing human workflows.

• Fine-tune, distill, or route across frontier and open models based on vertical economics.

• Analyze customer workflows, instrument them, and reconstruct them effectively.

• Oversee AI talent across operating companies in a player-coach capacity.

• Allocate approximately 90% of time to development and 10% to management.

• Engage with the codebase on a daily basis.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven track record of building and delivering products utilized by real users, either independently or as the principal technical lead.

• Experience in forward-deployed engineering, including a readiness to travel to customer locations and work from their offices.

• Strong judgment on when to fine-tune, prompt, utilize RAG, agents, or evaluation frameworks, supported by quantitative reasoning.

• Production experience with frontier and open models, including Claude, GPT, and Gemini.

• Comfort working with ambiguity, small teams, and less glamorous industries.

• GitHub profile required.

• A list of 3–5 independently or predominantly self-developed projects required.

• Demonstrated ability to build solo or lead projects is required.
