This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Taiwan.
• Take charge of the services that manage order lifecycles, internal ledgers, multi-currency funding flows, and automated reconciliation from the outset.
• Develop high-throughput, fault-tolerant infrastructure that scales from initial users to hundreds of thousands of active investors while maintaining auditability and data integrity.
• Collaborate directly with the CTO to establish company-wide standards for accuracy, distributed system reliability, and operational excellence in production.
• Design, implement, and oversee end-to-end order routing, execution lifecycles, internal double-entry ledgers, and automated funding and reconciliation systems.
• Create production systems that are optimized for concurrency and partial network failures, utilizing idempotent handlers, durable event history, replayable state, and self-healing mechanisms.
• Integrate directly with partner clearing broker-dealers, international brokers, banking rails (ACH, wires), FX mechanisms, and automated KYC/AML verification providers.
• Assume comprehensive operational ownership, which includes sandbox testing environments, monitoring/alerting, incident response, on-call rotations, and postmortems.
• Develop robust internal tools and dashboards for operations, compliance, and support teams to proactively audit, investigate, and resolve issues.
• Support the underlying data pipelines that fuel our real-time AI research and content-translation engines (no dedicated ML background required).
• Over 6 years of hands-on experience in building, scaling, and maintaining high-availability production backend systems.
• A proven history of managing mission-critical systems that deal with sensitive transactions (such as money movement, balances, orders, ledgering, or high-integrity financial data).
• Extensive knowledge in a modern backend programming language (such as Go, Python, Node.js, Rust, or Java) and production data infrastructure (including relational databases, distributed event queues/streams, caching layers).
• Strong understanding of the trade-offs in distributed systems—data modeling, transaction isolation, idempotency, failure domain isolation, and state reconciliation.
• Practical experience with on-call rotations, incident management, performance tuning, and creating detailed postmortems.
• High comfort level in navigating ambiguity, making pragmatic engineering trade-offs, and contributing to both product strategy and technical architecture.
• Experience in scaling consumer fintech, crypto, or brokerage platforms to over 100,000 active users.
• Domain expertise in capital markets (including Order Management Systems/OMS, market data, tax-lot accounting, corporate actions, post-trade settlement).
• Experience integrating with partner broker-dealers, clearing platforms, or Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) APIs.
• Practical experience with double-entry accounting ledgers, multi-currency FX rails, or stablecoin/on-chain settlement.
• Awareness of cross-border regulations or language proficiency relevant to East Asian markets (such as Korean or Japanese).
• Familiarity with AI-assisted developer tools and workflows that enhance shipping speed without sacrificing accuracy.
• This is a fully remote position based in Taiwan.
