This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Oversee technical engagements from initial scoping of solution architecture in POC workshops, through designing and constructing production-grade systems, and steering the engagement until the launch of the first live use case.
• Write and deploy production-level code (Python, TypeScript, Node) directly within customer codebases — designing APIs, integrating with existing customer frameworks, and establishing robust error handling, observability, and test coverage — acting as a hands-on contributor alongside customer engineers rather than merely providing advisory support.
• Design solutions that successfully pass customer Infosec, security, and Architecture Review Board (ARB) evaluations, translating security and compliance needs into tangible implementation strategies concerning authentication, data handling, and infrastructure design.
• Facilitate high-energy customer hackathons and builder activation events at key or target Direct accounts to expedite the adoption of innovative solutions.
• Develop and maintain reusable technical assets — including reference implementations, starter applications, SDKs, sample repositories, and companion engineering guides — that showcase sound architectural practices and serve as the technical foundation for adoption across accounts.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architects and Demo Platform Engineering to transform high-level reference architectures into functional, deployable code that customer builder teams can independently extend.
• Promote Twilio within the B2B builder communities of target accounts by spearheading the creation of new POCs and demonstrations that bring to fruition architectures discussed at the C-suite and line of business levels during the sales cycle.
• Leverage your software engineering knowledge to ensure customers’ builder teams gain a comprehensive understanding of and familiarity with the full platform capabilities of the proposed or sold solutions.
• Work closely with the Demo Platform Engineering and Enterprise Architect teams to ensure C-suite positioning and higher-level reference architectures are effectively activated within the builder communities of the target accounts.
• Collect field insights from every production deployment to directly inform R&D about necessary product enhancements and feature requirements.
• A minimum of 5 years of hands-on software engineering experience, with a proven track record of delivering production code (Python, TypeScript, Node) in actual systems — not limited to prototypes or demos.
• A solid foundation in software engineering principles: API design, system architecture, testing, debugging, version control workflows, and CI/CD.
• Proven experience managing end-to-end technical engagements — from POC workshops to production deployment.
• Excellent communication abilities and executive presence, whether in boardrooms with C-level stakeholders, customer meetings, or internal discussions with cross-functional teams.
• Capability to hold strong opinions while remaining open-minded, along with a history of thriving in ambiguous environments.
• In-depth knowledge of Twilio’s products and services, as well as an understanding of the broader market dynamics of SaaS, particularly in cloud computing, Gen AI, CRM, CDP, and/or CPaaS.
• Proficiency in influencing cross-functional stakeholders and working collaboratively.
• Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with a history of innovative approaches and delivering exceptional results.
• Previous experience in forward-deployed engineering, technical presales, and/or solution engineering is strongly preferred.
• Competitive pay
• Generous time off
• Ample parental and wellness leave
• Healthcare
• A retirement savings program
