Forward Deployed Engineer

📋 Description

• You will integrate with customers in your local market, on-site as necessary, to gain a deep understanding of their workflows, constraints, and what “success” means in practical terms.

• You will spearhead technical discovery, solution design, and delivery for significant customer deployments, including integrations, data onboarding, workflow configuration, and new product features necessary to unlock value.

• You will develop and deploy production code that enhances Partly’s core SaaS + API platform, often in close feedback loops with users while maintaining reliability, security, and maintainability.

• You will bridge the gap between customer needs and our product/engineering roadmap by transforming ambiguous challenges into clear requirements, scoped milestones, and measurable results.

• You will serve as the hands-on technical lead for deployments post-launch, addressing live issues, enhancing observability, fortifying edge cases, and driving ongoing improvements.

• You will gain expertise in the complex and challenging auto parts sector, assisting customers in modernizing how they source, identify, and transact parts.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in developing and deploying complex software in production settings.

• Strong customer empathy and product insight: capable of transforming real-world workflows into practical solutions.

• Comfortable managing the complete lifecycle: discovery → design → build → deploy → operate → iterate.

• Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals: APIs, testing, system design, data structures, and debugging.

• Ability to collaborate across different domains: effectively communicate with customer IT teams, operations teams, and internal product/engineering stakeholders through clear written and verbal communication.

• Experience with external system integrations (APIs, webhooks, EDI/FTP/file feeds, SSO) and working with imperfect data.

• Capable of functioning in ambiguous environments and making sound trade-offs quickly (balancing time-to-value against long-term maintainability).

• (Bonus) Experience in forward-deployed roles, solutions engineering, technical consulting, or implementation.

• (Bonus) Familiarity with automotive parts, repairer/supplier workflows, or related B2B marketplaces.

• (Bonus) Experience with Rust (or a strong interest in learning it).
