Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Transform strategic enterprise implementations into success stories ready for production.

• Engage on-site with enterprise clients for concentrated 5-day deployment sessions.

• Arrive with a hypothesis and depart with established production workflows.

• Collaborate with Deployment Strategists to ensure technical execution aligns with customer priorities and adoption objectives.

• Foster trust among both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Create and construct workflows, integrations, and custom nodes tailored to client environments.

• Extend n8n nodes or incorporate missing functionality for enterprise-specific use cases.

• Convert vague business challenges into actionable automation designs.

• Operate across various industries and technology stacks.

• Recognize unique requirements that should evolve into reusable node enhancements, product features, or platform functionalities.

• Record technical deficiencies, customer context, implementation insights, and prioritization signals for Product and Engineering teams.

• Contribute reusable workflows, custom nodes, integration models, and insights to an internal playbook repository.

• Conduct time-limited engagements with defined outcomes.

• Create solutions that clients can manage and operate independently.

• Determine when to build, simplify, or push back to prevent unnecessary complexity.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong experience in full-stack or backend engineering.

• Developed integrations, APIs, or automation pipelines in live environments.

• Capability to create custom nodes and enhance existing integrations.

• Proficient in working with APIs, authentication methods, data models, and event-driven architectures.

• Skillful at differentiating between one-off solutions, reusable node enhancements, and product features.

• Comfortable engaging directly with clients in both technical and non-technical roles.

• Ability to transform chaotic operational challenges into practical technical designs.

• Strong technical judgment with the capability to avoid unnecessary complexity.

• Willingness to travel approximately 50–60% of the time, mainly within Europe.

• Quick to grasp new industries, technology stacks, and client environments.

• Familiarity with n8n or comparable workflow automation tools (preferred).

• Experience with enterprise deployments (preferred).

• Experience in developing nodes, connectors, plugins, SDKs, or reusable integration frameworks (preferred).

• Background in forward-deployed or solutions engineering (preferred).

• Experience providing product feedback, contributing to roadmaps, or writing engineering specifications (preferred).

• Must have the right to work in countries outside Germany; n8n can sponsor visas to Germany.

• English is the primary language used in the company.
