Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Become a member of Higharc's pioneering Forward Deployed team.

• Collaborate closely with a major production homebuilder to convert plans into actionable data.

• Integrate with HQ, regional, and division teams for technical exploration.

• Analyze plan assets, evaluate data quality, and reverse-engineer how drawing sets represent variations.

• Develop and deliver searchable plan libraries, analytics dashboards, and agent-enabled natural-language search functionalities.

• Manage the process from raw plan ingestion to structured, queryable outputs.

• Optimize and enhance Higharc's Autotranslate AI capabilities to identify, classify, and convert floorplans into data formats.

• Create ETL processes, develop against internal APIs, and deliver functional capabilities directly to users.

• Construct geometric similarity scoring and classification models.

• Achieve delivery milestones, coverage goals, data-field completeness, and QA error limits.

• Measure and analyze catalog redundancy, dimensional variation, consolidation opportunities, and purchasing advantages.

• Collaborate with Product, Technical Lead, QA, Intake Specialists, and Client Strategy teams.

• Communicate technical advancements and decisions to executive stakeholders.

• Transform one-off scripts and data patterns into reusable tools for future projects.

• Travel to client locations and company events up to 30% of the time.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering experience.

• Extensive experience in customer-facing or deployed environments, such as forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering, technical consulting, or professional services.

• Proficient hands-on data fluency, including SQL, API scripting, and notebook utilization.

• Experience in prototyping with tools like Cursor, Replit, or V0.dev.

• Background in developing structured data models, taxonomies, or classification schemes and implementing systems in production.

• Strong judgment regarding data quality and accuracy standards.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Willingness to travel to client locations and company events up to 30% of the time.

• A significant advantage: experience in residential construction, homebuilding, architecture, or AEC technology.

• A significant advantage: familiarity with agent-based or natural-language search, RAG systems, or LLM-powered analytics.

• A significant advantage: experience with geometric or spatial data, CAD/BIM, computer vision on drawings, similarity, or clustering methodologies.

• A significant advantage: experience in large-scale, complex data migrations or ingestion projects.

• A significant advantage: capability to build a function from the ground up.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States for a US-based role; the application form will inquire about US visa sponsorship or renewal.
