This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Perform in-depth technical assessments in targeted strategic accounts to evaluate platform readiness, identify constraints, and uncover significant adoption opportunities across the GitLab and GitLab Duo Agent Platform.
• Direct the design of architecture and delivery for complex enterprise settings where platform migration, regulatory requirements, and product limitations intersect.
• Collaborate with customer stakeholders and GitLab account teams to prioritize use cases based on their business impact, technical feasibility, repeatability, and long-term platform value.
• Create and develop bounded proofs, prototypes, deployment patterns, and reusable accelerators spanning source code management, CI/CD, security, compliance, and AI-enabled workflows.
• Design self-managed and enterprise deployments, incorporating runners, access controls, network boundaries, observability, AI Gateway, model connectivity, and governance controls.
• Transform recurring field patterns into reusable resources such as runbooks, templates, design notes, technical guidance, product briefs, and reference architectures applicable across various accounts.
• Provide code, technical designs, or architectural changes when strategically appropriate, collaborating with product and engineering teams to resolve upstream blockers.
• Travel as necessary for strategic customer interactions, architecture workshops, and team coordination, with anticipated travel up to 50%.
• Proven experience in software engineering, platform architecture, forward-deployed engineering, technical consulting, or similar customer-facing engineering roles.
• Strong foundation in software engineering principles, including the ability to read, analyze, and contribute to production systems, preferably with experience in Ruby on Rails and/or Go.
• Excellent systems design and software architecture capabilities, with experience in assessing APIs, asynchronous workflows, CI/CD systems, security boundaries, scalability, and operational trade-offs.
• Practical experience with GitLab CI/CD, pipeline design, YAML, runners, and GitLab APIs.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code and enterprise deployment tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, or similar methodologies.
• Understanding of large language models, agentic patterns, tool orchestration, and the practical limitations of AI systems in production scenarios.
• A proven track record of creating reusable technical assets that extend beyond a single engagement, coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills for technical design and architecture advice.
• Ability to lead discussions with senior stakeholders across security, compliance, engineering, platform, and business teams, particularly in complex enterprise environments.
