Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Oversee and manage the complete delivery lifecycle: discovery, design, development, verification, release, and handling post-release incidents.

• Address unassigned tasks, including managing access, analyzing unexplained datasets, and facilitating integrations.

• Engage directly with clients, which includes respectfully declining requests while providing reasoning and alternative solutions.

• Ensure that acceptance criteria are fulfilled without necessitating a separate testing phase.

• Achieve consistent delivery utilizing AI agents through specifications and tests first, maintaining committed agent context, and implementing gates for every modification.

• Operate within client environments, which may involve working with repositories, participating in standups, and occasionally joining customer calls.

• Leverage AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Codex.

• Collaborate across OpenAI, Anthropic, and open-weight models, utilizing Azumo's Valkyrie production layer when suitable.

• Uphold quality by conducting automated codebase audits that address security, cost, and architectural concerns.

• Serve as the technical lead and responsible owner for client engagements.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in building and deploying production software, with expertise in at least one of the following areas: product software, data pipelines and retrieval, modeling and applied AI, or AI systems in a production environment.

• Proven experience as the sole engineer on a project or as the first engineer on a new client engagement.

• A history of delivering work within another organization's environment — following their repository standards, conventions, and limitations — with minimal supervision and without a predetermined specification.

• Direct experience working with clients, including defining project scope with stakeholders, addressing requests assertively, and earning their trust.

• End-to-end ownership of at least one production system, including management of incidents.

• Daily engagement with AI coding agents beyond mere autocomplete, including executing repository tasks, maintaining repository-level context, and reviewing all merged changes.

• Experience with cloud deployments on Azure or AWS.

• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code using GitHub Actions, Terraform, or Bicep.

• Proficiency in English at a C1/C2 level.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Preferred: substantial experience in a secondary area of expertise.

• Preferred: experience delivering under compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or HIPAA.

• Preferred: background in consulting, agency work, or client services.

• Preferred: contributions to open-source projects, published technical articles, or active participation in engineering communities.
