This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.
• Propel Forest Management Growth: Formulate and implement a national strategy to enhance Forest Management certification, establishing a pipeline across state forests, private forests, and smallholders.
• Broaden Certified Area: Increase the area of certified forests and the number of certificate holders while unlocking group certification possibilities for fragmented ownership structures.
• Lead Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison for forest owners, state forest administration, certification bodies, NGOs, and industry.
• Government Relations: Build and maintain relationships with the Ministry of Environment, parliamentary committees, Romsilva, and related institutions.
• Policy Representation: Represent the organization in national policy discussions, conferences, and public forums.
• Standards & Technical Leadership: Assist in the implementation and evolution of the Forest Stewardship Standard for Romania while offering technical guidance to stakeholders.
• Standards Coordination: Oversee the development and revision processes of the Forest Stewardship Standard and Risk Assessment, ensuring balance among chambers and inclusion of stakeholders.
• Capability Building: Conduct training sessions, workshops, and stakeholder engagement initiatives to promote the value of certification.
• Internal Collaboration: Collaborate closely with European and global teams, contributing to regional initiatives and sharing insights on risks, opportunities, and market trends.
• Forestry Expertise: In-depth technical knowledge of forest management, silviculture, and certification systems.
• Strategic Thinking: Capability to devise and execute national growth strategies with measurable outcomes.
• Stakeholder Influence: Proven track record of engaging and influencing a diverse range of stakeholders across government, industry, and civil society.
• Policy Understanding: Familiarity with the Romanian forest policy landscape, regulatory framework, and ownership structures.
• Communication Excellence: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective representation at conferences, policy forums, and stakeholder meetings.
• Independence: Ability to work independently while collaborating with international teams.
• Language Skills: Proficiency in Romanian and English (spoken and written).
• Cultural Sensitivity: Proven ability to work in multi-cultural, multi-lingual environments while accommodating diverse stakeholder perspectives.
