Forensic Structural Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Accountable for evaluating various building structures to determine their structural integrity.

• Conduct analysis to identify the causes and origins of failures.

• Ensure compliance with building codes and industry regulations.

• Compile thorough technical reports.

• Execute investigations to establish the root causes of incidents and failures.

• Create detailed reports, drawings, and/or outline the origins and causes of losses and damages.

• Offer expert testimony in court proceedings and/or during depositions.

• Document and track billable hours on a time and expense basis for failure analysis and engineering assignments.

• Work in collaboration with EFI’s national team of forensic specialists to share insights and support projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of eight (8) years of experience or a suitable combination of education and experience.

• Experience in failure analysis and forensic engineering is preferred.

• Knowledge of wood, steel, masonry, and concrete design and construction methods.

• Experience with building envelope components and their details.

• Understanding of relevant building and design codes and standards.

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited institution is required.

• A Professional Engineering (PE) license in at least one New England state is necessary.

• Multi-state licensing and/or an active NCEES Record is preferred.

• Experience in providing expert witness testimony is an advantage.
