This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.
• Conduct initial consultations with immigration clients, delivering outstanding customer service.
• Organize and gather immigration-related information and necessary documents from clients.
• Submit and monitor FOIA requests with agencies such as USCIS, EOIR, CBP, FBI, ICE, and OBIM.
• Review FOIA receipt numbers and keep track of case developments.
• Schedule follow-up tasks for FOIA inquiries every 30 days to assess outcomes and case status.
• Compile FOIA packets and prepare files for attorney examination.
• Maintain and refresh FOIA tracking spreadsheets and case documentation.
• Save and categorize FOIA results within Clio and other internal systems.
• Facilitate communication among attorneys, legal assistants, and clients.
• Handle incoming calls, emails, text messages, and client inquiries.
• Arrange client appointments for signatures, fingerprints, and consultations.
• Draft case closure letters and client communications as necessary.
• Process modified retainers and service upgrades when required.
• Ensure accurate case files and adherence to firm procedures.
• Fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Over 2 years of experience in FOIA filing, FOIA review, or as an immigration legal assistant.
• Background in legal education or a keen interest in the field.
• Strong grasp of FOIA processes and immigration-related documentation.
• Exceptional customer service skills and effective client communication abilities.
• High attention to detail and document accuracy.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and case-related tasks concurrently.
• Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
• Experience with case management systems like Clio or similar platforms is preferred.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to summarize extensive information and documentation after review.
• Enjoy working independently while maintaining productivity in a remote setting.
• Problem-solving attitude with the ability to identify and escalate issues as necessary.
• Professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive client information.
• Capability to receive payments in USD via PayPal.
• A reliable laptop or desktop (minimum 8GB RAM, Core i5 or higher) with a stable 10 Mbps connection for optimal performance.
