FOIA Analyst – Surge Support

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• Offer support services aimed at diminishing a backlog of FOIA requests and improving overall response times for FOIA inquiries.

• Access pre-scanned images of records that contain the information requested in the FOIA/PA inquiries.

• Confirm the requestor's entitlement to the requested information, redact sensitive information, apply exemptions when needed, and prepare the appropriate responses for electronic submission to Government staff for approval.

• Ensure that the responsive records accurately match the request and the correct subject matter.

• Maintain and update the case note file as necessary.

• Carry out additional job-related tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma coupled with at least 1 year of college education or one year of experience handling legal documents in either a government or private law office.

• A minimum of 6 months of practical experience using a computer terminal.

• Between 1 to 3 years of experience in records management or document control, encompassing both manual and automated information management.

• Some background related to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is preferred.

• Candidates with previous experience in USCIS FOIA Processing are highly preferred.

• Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English, with strong typing skills.

• Proven ability to identify and differentiate various types of legal documents and their respective purposes.

• Established capability to create and maintain tracking systems for completing work assignments.

• Demonstrated logical thinking and the ability to apply general principles to specific scenarios.

• Proven ability to work autonomously with limited guidance and supervision.

• Demonstrated skill in troubleshooting minor computer issues and performing maintenance.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Must successfully pass a Federal background check and a drug screening.
