This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Create, organize, and submit Fire Protection schematics, hydraulic calculations, seismic brace assessments, and material/equipment schedules. Prepare stock lists for fabrication and approve fabrication estimates.
• Collaborate with other mechanical systems to ensure seamless integration with the fire suppression system and identify potential conflicts with other trades.
• Guarantee compliance with NFPA standards, insurance regulations, and all fire and building code requirements.
• Provide updates to the purchasing department as installation timelines or change orders necessitate adjustments to meet deadlines and other specifications.
• Liaise with the Design Manager and Field Superintendent to review the design, installation, and testing of devices and systems throughout the project's duration.
• Generate shop lists using computer software for the fabrication of system piping.
• Support and substitute for the Design Manager and assist in training less experienced designers as needed.
• Accountable for the layout of sprinkler system schematics using available information from the project's defined scope, architectural plans, job specifications, site surveys, and relevant NFPA, IBC, and local building codes.
• Oversee all facets of design layout, field verification, fabrication listing, material equipment submittals, hydraulic calculations, relevant installation requirements, and project close-out procedures.
• Uphold proper Risk Management and Safety practices on all job sites in accordance with VSC policies.
• Three to five years of experience with AutoCAD or SprinkCAD, or a strong background in mathematics.
• Proficient in reviewing architectural drawings, mechanical plans, site surveys, structural details, and researching essential information as required for structural and mechanical components.
• Collaborate with other mechanical systems to ensure successful integration with the fire suppression system and identify potential conflicts with other trades.
• Ability to work independently in organizing, planning, and prioritizing multiple projects to meet individual deadlines while demonstrating exceptional attention to detail and communication skills.
• Monitor and enforce safety protocols and procedures.
• Capability to pass various background checks.
• Reliable transportation, valid State Driver's License with an acceptable driving record for operating a company vehicle.
• Preferred (but not mandatory): NICET Level III or IV, or equivalent experience.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in drafting (AutoCAD).
