Fire Protection – Field Operations Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Assist the Field Operations Director in implementing field operations strategies across designated projects.

• Act as a vital point of communication between field leadership and project teams to ensure alignment with project objectives, timelines, and client requirements.

• Engage in project handoff meetings, offering insights on manpower, equipment necessities, subcontractor coordination, and field execution strategies.

• Examine project documents, drawings, schedules, and scopes to prepare for efficient field execution.

• Collaborate with superintendents and field leaders on manpower planning; communicate and facilitate staffing requirements to the Field Operations Director.

• Oversee field productivity, safety, quality, and schedule performance across assigned projects.

• Review and analyze field documentation such as daily reports, lookahead schedules, site inspections, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

• Conduct regular site visits to ensure adherence to Mullins Mechanical safety policies, site-specific plans, and OSHA regulations.

• Lead or assist in safety meetings, toolbox talks, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs/MSAs), and incident investigations.

• Perform field quality audits to ensure installations comply with company standards and aid in corrective action plans as necessary.

• Coordinate the delivery, use, maintenance, and calibration of equipment to guarantee uninterrupted field operations.

• Help track project progress, identify potential setbacks, and implement strategies for mitigation.

• Facilitate feedback from field teams to vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to address issues and enhance execution.

• Support project closeout efforts, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of field documentation and punch lists.

• Participate in lessons-learned meetings and provide insights to enhance future project planning and execution.

• Mentor and support superintendents, foremen, and field staff through training, coaching, and performance evaluations.

• Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and ongoing improvement in field operations.

• Ensure accurate timekeeping, attendance monitoring, and cost code usage for assigned field personnel.

• Assist the Field Operations Director during audits, reviews, and leadership meetings as needed.

• Additional responsibilities may be assigned as business needs change.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience as a Superintendent, General Superintendent, or in a comparable field leadership position within a self-performing construction environment.

• Solid working knowledge of mechanical construction operations, safety standards, and quality control procedures.

• Demonstrated capability to coordinate manpower, equipment, and field resources across various projects.

• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication abilities.

• Proficiency in MS Office, Procore, Bluebeam, and scheduling tools.

• Ability to effectively lead, mentor, and collaborate with field and project management teams.

• OSHA 30 certification is mandatory.

• Willingness to travel regularly to project sites as required.

• Previous experience and a proven track record as a Senior Superintendent in a trade that Mullins self-performs, or in a similar capacity.

• Knowledge of safety, quality, and health regulations for construction job sites.

• Comprehensive understanding of construction operations and processes.

• Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project.

• Bilingual (Spanish) is an advantage.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• Ability to communicate in a professional manner.

• Capacity to lead and inspire others.

• OSHA 30 certification is required.

• Prior experience managing multiple Superintendents is essential.
