This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Conduct investigations of fire incidents to establish origin, cause, and accountability as per directives from clients or designated legal representatives.
• Accepts assignments from clients for the investigation of claims or losses and executes the investigation in alignment with the specific requirements of the task.
• Identifies the origin and cause of the loss/claim being investigated and recognizes any potential third-party liability for subrogation opportunities.
• Adheres to necessary reporting obligations to clients according to EFI’s established protocols.
• Advocates and promotes the use of EFI services within the insurance sector and in the designated region.
• Acts as a bridge between the insurance sector and law enforcement/fire service personnel.
• Investigates claims/losses involving illegal, fraudulent, or subrogation elements as directed by the client or the attorney representing the insurer.
• Identifies and interviews all witnesses or relevant individuals who may have information regarding the incident under investigation, including motives, opportunities, or any other pertinent details that could support a thorough investigation.
• Acquires the necessary knowledge and skills to perform a comprehensive review of available public records, including land deeds, mortgages, liens, lawsuits, judgments, marriage, and divorce records, among others.
• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
• A minimum certification requirement for consideration is the Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFEI).
• IAAI Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI-CFI) certification is preferred.
• Candidates must obtain the IAAI-CFI certification within six months of eligibility to take the IAAI-CFI certification examination.
• Three (3) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Proficient in oral and written communication.
• Computer literate, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• Possesses strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Solid analytical and interpretive capabilities.
• Strong investigative skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
• Ability to work autonomously or collaboratively within a team.
