This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kazakhstan.
• Spearhead the strategy for optimizing cloud costs across GCP, AWS, and on-premises infrastructure, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and financial predictability.
• Evaluate resource usage for compute, storage, networking, and Kubernetes to pinpoint actionable opportunities for cost savings while maintaining performance and reliability.
• Develop and sustain forecasting models, dashboards, and automated reports that deliver real-time insights into cost drivers and trends across various teams and services.
• Establish and enforce tagging/labeling standards, budgeting procedures, and governance policies to foster accountability across the organization.
• Work closely with Engineering, Finance, and Product teams to influence workload placement, architectural decisions, and scaling strategies.
• Promote the adoption of FinOps best practices, including rightsizing, reservation planning, autoscaling optimizations, multi-cloud efficiency, and cost-effective storage solutions.
• Design and enhance internal tools, automation processes, and pipelines for monitoring costs, detecting anomalies, and attributing usage across Kubernetes clusters, virtual machines, and physical servers located in both data centers and cloud environments.
• Champion a cost-conscious culture by training engineering teams, conducting FinOps reviews, and sharing insights with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Keep abreast of the latest cloud pricing models, vendor offerings, and industry trends to continuously advance Xsolla’s FinOps capabilities.
• Over 5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps roles with a strong emphasis on cost optimization.
• Practical experience with GCP (preferred) and AWS, along with a solid understanding of cloud pricing models, resource types, and cost management tools.
• In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes resource allocation, autoscaling, workload placement, and cost attribution in distributed environments.
• Expertise in cloud cost management tools, including GCP Billing exports, BigQuery, AWS CUR, third-party monitoring tools (such as Kubecost and CloudHealth), and custom dashboards.
• Strong analytical and data engineering skills, capable of creating dashboards, SQL-based pipelines, and forecasting models.
• Proven experience driving cross-functional projects and influencing stakeholders in engineering, product, and finance.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts into business-oriented recommendations.
