Financial Counselor – Financial Assistance Call Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana.

📋 Description

• Support patients with billing inquiries throughout the organization via face-to-face interactions, email, fax, mail, and phone communications.

• Analyze patient bills and gather payments for upcoming procedures, outstanding balances, and overdue amounts.

• Evaluate alternative benefit coverage options for both medical and pharmaceutical services.

• Obtain necessary authorizations and set up fee arrangements.

• Provide coverage at additional locations as required.

• Act as a liaison among patients, providers, external departments, and responsible parties.

• Ensure accurate application of charges, maintain transactions, and resolve account balances or discrepancies.

• Offer timely estimates for upcoming procedures.

• Clarify patients' financial responsibilities and inform them about available assistance programs.

• Deliver precise, professional service and address patient concerns effectively.

• Adhere to relevant laws, accreditation standards, regulations, privacy policies, safety protocols, and conduct guidelines.


⛳️ Requirements

• A High School diploma or equivalent is required.

• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in customer service, healthcare, or office settings is required.

• Previous experience in healthcare billing, collections, or customer service is preferred.

• Proficient computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Proficient in Windows-based applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Familiarity with role-specific software packages and keyboard functions.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and capability to multitask effectively.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

• Maintain composure and professionalism during high-pressure financial and medical discussions with patients.

• Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound decisions.

• Reliable transportation may be necessary for travel to other facilities.
