Financial Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Develop, oversee, and revise the annual operating budget along with various budget scenarios (base / upside / downside) for an organization with approximately $2.5M (and expanding).

• Generate monthly analyses comparing budgeted to actual figures; pinpoint the factors influencing cost and expense changes and articulate them effectively.

• Highlight cost and expense risks and opportunities for leadership, along with suggested actions.

• Maintain ongoing forecasts and cash-flow projections, ensuring leadership has a proactive view of financial runway and expenditures.

• Prepare budgets for grants and programs, along with associated financial reporting.

• Analyze the financial implications of new programs, personnel, and initiatives; collaborate with budget owners to ensure spending aligns with plans.

• Provide clear reporting and dashboards for leadership and the board.

• Execute daily bookkeeping tasks in QuickBooks, encompassing general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

• Document journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, deferrals, and amortization.

• Conduct monthly reconciliations for bank accounts and credit cards.

• Execute a timely and accurate monthly close while preparing financial statements.

• Adhere to GAAP and non-profit fund-accounting standards (restricted vs. unrestricted).

• Assist with the annual audit and Form 990 by providing schedules and documentation.

• Uphold internal controls and document accounting processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in financial analysis (FP&A) along with accounting/bookkeeping.

• Proven experience in daily bookkeeping, journal entries, and monthly reconciliations.

• Proficient in QuickBooks and possess advanced spreadsheet capabilities.

• Experience in budget creation and conducting variance analyses.

• Familiarity with remote work and collaboration across different time zones.

• Full professional proficiency in English.

• BA/BS in Accounting or equivalent experience.
