Financial Aid Officer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Execute financial aid policies as instructed, ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations, audit standards, and the organization's guidelines.

• Assess financial aid applications and eligibility documentation submitted by students to determine their qualifications for financial aid awards.

• Responsible for completing verification in accordance with established federal regulations, quality assurance, and comment (C) code resolution.

• Provide information through the student information system to admissions and advising team members to gather any missing documentation needed from students to finalize the financial aid application.

• Maintain minimum weekly completion rates for award packages as defined by Student Financial Aid leadership.

• Keep informed about the organization's products and services.

• Stay updated in the financial aid sector through professional development activities, including workshops, conferences, state and regional associations, and coursework.

• Ensure accurate and effective representation of the organization while following through with prospective students, enrolled students, the business community, and high school officials.

• Collaborate effectively with all staff members, especially admissions and advising team members, while maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.

• Prepare financial aid award packages based on the documentation provided.

• Adhere to processes and procedures that enhance the awarding and distribution of aid programs.

• Review and certify private loan applications on a weekly basis.

• Ensure accurate and timely tracking and documentation of these applications.

• Diligently monitor financial awarding to guarantee prompt approval and payment.

• Maintain eligibility to access the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) as required by the US Department of Education.


⛳️ Requirements

• Associate degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.

• A minimum of one to three years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, ideally within a financial aid, finance counseling, or loan processing environment.

• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

• Exceptional organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize and handle multiple demands with minimal supervision; maintain records and files with accuracy and precision.

• High level of professionalism and telephone etiquette.

• Excellent customer service capabilities.

• Strong mathematical aptitude.

• General knowledge of the higher education industry is preferred, but not mandatory.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Familiarity with financial software, such as CampusNexus, is preferred.

• Strong command of the English language, both oral and written.
