Financial Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take charge of month-end activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.

• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and analyze P&L variances with accompanying commentaries.

• Prepare quarterly VAT returns.

• Manage and address finance-related inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders.

• Process customer refunds while ensuring compliance with AML regulations.

• Develop automations and enhance efficiencies in current processes to minimize month-end workload.

• Update policies to improve efficiency while maintaining high control standards.

• Identify opportunities for enhancements in company-wide reporting and collaborate with colleagues to implement improvements.

• Aim to decrease finance-related inquiries from customers and internal teams by pinpointing common issues and executing solutions.

• Ensure proper allocation of costs to relevant verticals and budget holders.

• Track and reconcile cash flow movements for user balances.

• Assist in preparing financial reports and invoices for key clients, monitoring expenditures against contracts.

• Support FP&A in keeping Prolific’s re-forecast accurate and up-to-date.

• Engage in ad-hoc projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• Recently qualified accountant (preferably ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).

• Demonstrated experience in executing month-end tasks and meeting deadlines.

• Ability to work with large datasets, showcasing a keen attention to detail and discrepancy identification.

• Proactive problem-solver with confidence in proposing improvements.

• Comfortable in a fast-paced work environment or previous experience in a startup/scale-up setting.

• Quick learner adept at picking up new systems and processes, and comfortable with adapting to changes.

• Confident communicator capable of engaging with various stakeholders, including those from non-financial backgrounds.

• Familiarity with Xero and Google products (such as Google Sheets).

• Genuine interest in new and emerging technologies, including AI, and their potential to enhance financial processes and efficiency.

• Experience in implementing new finance software.

• Background in supporting the audit process.
