This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Take ownership of the complete payroll accounting procedure, which includes the preparation, review, and posting of monthly payroll journals for all entities.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts related to payroll, such as wages, pensions, bonuses, benefits, and accrued payroll costs.
• Assist in month-end and year-end closure activities connected to payroll and employee expenses.
• Investigate and rectify payroll discrepancies and accounting inconsistencies.
• Collaborate closely with payroll providers and internal stakeholders to ensure precise payroll reporting.
• Maintain comprehensive audit trails and supporting documentation for payroll transactions.
• Aid in the budgeting and forecasting processes concerning salary, bonus, and benefit expenses.
• Generate monthly analyses and reports on expenditures related to personnel.
• Oversee payroll, benefits, and HR-related cost allocations, recharges, and toolkit billing across business units as necessary.
• Serve as the primary finance liaison for the HR team regarding payroll, benefits, and employee cost reporting.
• Assist in the administration and reporting of bonus schemes, commissions, and employee benefits.
• Support the financial components of annual salary evaluations and compensation planning cycles.
• Provide the HR team with accurate reporting on headcount, salaries, and workforce costs.
• Facilitate onboarding and offboarding processes from both payroll and finance perspectives.
• Help with pension, benefit, and statutory reporting obligations as applicable.
• Partner with the HR team to deliver financial insights and operational support across payroll, benefits, rewards, headcount planning, employee lifecycle processes, and workforce reporting.
• Contribute to HR projects that include remuneration reviews, benefits harmonization, acquisitions, integrations, annual salary review cycles, and people-related reporting requirements.
• Identify and implement opportunities to enhance payroll and finance processes through automation and standardization.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests related to payroll and employee costs.
• Maintain thorough audit trails, reconciliation files, and supporting documentation for payroll and employee cost transactions.
• Ensure adherence to HMRC, statutory, and internal reporting obligations.
• Support system implementations, acquisitions, and integration projects as needed.
• Prior experience in finance, payroll accounting, management accounting, or a similar position.
• Strong comprehension of payroll processes and related reconciliations.
• Experience in preparing journals, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Proficient Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
• Keen attention to detail and the ability to work accurately within deadlines.
• Capability to clearly communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• AAT qualified or pursuing ACCA, CIMA, or ACA (desirable).
• Experience working with outsourced payroll providers (desirable).
• Background in a multi-entity or international business (desirable).
• Familiarity with HR systems and administration of employee benefits (desirable).
• Experience in software, technology, or high-growth companies (desirable).
