This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of the compliance calendar: Maintain a comprehensive master schedule that encompasses every entity, all filing obligations, deadlines, and consultants.
• Oversee global VAT filings: Ensure that monthly and quarterly VAT returns are submitted for all non-US entities.
• Manage US state tax compliance: Supervise state-level payroll tax returns, franchise tax filings, and annual reports for state registrations.
• Handle annual filings: Ensure that annual reports, director filings, KYC renewals, and registered agent and office renewals are completed across the global entity network.
• Supervise direct tax compliance: Manage CIT returns, advance tax payments, TDS filings, TRC applications, 1099 filings, and FBAR reporting.
• Oversee consultants and LPPs: Cultivate and manage relationships with local consultants and auditors.
• Manage entity lifecycle: Coordinate the incorporation of new entities, closures, share transfers, and changes to organizational charts.
• Monitor regulations: Stay informed on changes in tax, employment, and corporate law across all operational jurisdictions.
• You possess a degree in finance or business.
• You have 3-5 years of relevant compliance experience, with prior experience in a startup being a significant advantage.
• You have a working understanding of VAT/GST mechanics, US state tax compliance, corporate income tax coordination, and statutory annual filings. You are not required to file them personally, but you should have the knowledge to review and challenge the submissions.
• Proven experience managing external consultants - you can identify underperformance, address scope creep, and negotiate fees effectively.
• Excellent written communication skills. You will frequently draft emails to auditors, consultants, regulators, and executive leadership.
• A tendency to favor automation. You should be open to utilizing LLMs to streamline manual work and suggest new automations when you identify repetitive processes.
• Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable taking ownership. If a filing is overlooked while under your responsibility, the accountability falls on you.
