This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Lead the financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning in accordance with the agency’s growth goals.
• Track revenue, margins, and profitability on a project/client basis.
• Evaluate key metrics such as utilization, billable rates, and project performance.
• Provide guidance to leadership regarding the financial ramifications of strategic decisions.
• Generate timely and precise financial reports, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
• Ensure adherence to local, provincial, and federal financial regulations and reporting standards.
• Supervise monthly and annual closing, reporting, and variance analysis.
• Implement and/or enhance tools and systems to boost financial visibility and efficiency (e.g., project time tracking, financial dashboards).
• Oversee and assess ongoing operational expenses, payroll, and contractor payments.
• Review expense claims.
• Perform general bookkeeping and reporting tasks.
• Work collaboratively with project managers and department leads to enhance processes and resource distribution.
• Manage financial relationships with suppliers, vendors, contractors, and clients.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA designation is an asset).
• Over 5 years of experience in finance/accounting; prior experience in a digital agency or professional services firm is highly preferred.
• Solid understanding of taxation in Canada and Quebec (knowledge of US taxation is a plus).
• Strong proficiency in Google Sheets or similar software.
• A passion for self-improvement and process enhancement, with a willingness to explore and utilize various tools (e.g., ChatGPT).
• Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Dex) and project management tools (e.g., Redmine, Float, Notion).
• Exceptional analytical skills and business insight.
• A collaborative mindset.
• Strong grasp of GAAP and financial compliance standards.
• Familiarity with project-based accounting and revenue recognition.
• Proficiency in both English and French (French language skills are a strong asset).
