Finance Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Define and lead the strategic roadmap for Finance data, automation, and internal tools.

• Develop and progressively enhance Voodoo's Finance data platform, focusing on use cases that deliver maximum business value.

• Transition essential data transformations and workflows from spreadsheets and legacy tools to well-documented, code-based solutions.

• Construct dependable data models and pipelines for Finance reporting, analysis, forecasting, and operational tasks.

• Set robust standards for data quality, observability, documentation, security, and access management.

• Collaborate closely with Accounting, FP&A, Controlling, Treasury, and other Finance stakeholders to convert their requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Work regularly with Voodoo's Data leadership and engineering teams to ensure alignment on architecture, tools, and best practices.

• Create user-friendly dashboards and internal applications that empower Finance teams to independently explore data and manage workflows.

• Identify opportunities for AI and automation, transitioning them from prototype to production while assessing the value they provide.

• Assist Finance teams in effectively adopting data and AI tools through comprehensive documentation, training, and ongoing support.

• Report directly to the CFO and collaborate closely with Finance stakeholders and Voodoo's central Data team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related field, including responsibility for production-grade data solutions.

• Demonstrated success in building or significantly enhancing a modern data platform or analytics stack.

• Highly skilled in SQL and adept at developing production systems in Python.

• Strong software engineering principles applied to data work: testing, version control, code review, documentation, and monitoring.

• Solid grasp of fundamental corporate Finance and accounting concepts; knowledge of French accounting principles is a significant advantage.

• Capability to translate vague business needs into clear, actionable technical solutions.

• Comfortable working independently, prioritizing competing demands, and delivering incremental value.

• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences, in French and English.

• Inquisitive about the evolving data and AI landscape — you experiment with new methods to solve real-world problems and develop your own insights.

• Meticulous, detail-oriented, and results-focused; pragmatic in technology choices, knowing when to build, adopt open-source, or purchase commercial solutions.

• Experience in creating tools or data products for Finance teams (preferred).

• Experience in deploying AI agents or AI-enhanced workflows into production (preferred).

• Familiarity with the mobile gaming, consumer applications, advertising, or digital analytics sectors (preferred).

• Experience managing data infrastructure on AWS (preferred).

• Technical expertise in AWS, Python, SQL, Scala, dbt, Airflow, Spark, Athena, StarRocks, Terraform, Kubernetes, Streamlit, Claude Code, and MCP-based internal tools.
