Field Technician II – Client Onsite

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Uphold the highest quality standards across all designated data center locations and remote points of presence (POP).

• Participate in the physical installation, repair, maintenance, and testing activities as instructed, with a strong focus on achieving and sustaining the highest quality standards within the telecommunications sector.

• Assist with card additions or replacements, software upgrades, and related testing tasks.

• Propose enhancements to processes that could affect the quality of our network assets or boost overall efficiencies for any relevant process or system.

• Provide site survey assistance for OSP and ISP projects, alongside considerable space & power and/or equipment deployments.

• Conduct site audits and resolve data discrepancies in collaboration with Network Surveillance and other departments as needed.

• Aid in managing local construction vendors representing the company to ensure adherence to installation, repair, maintenance MOPs and standards, along with quality and cleanliness.

• Coordinate with Local Exchange Carrier (LEC) and other technicians to ensure timely execution of installation, repair, and maintenance tasks as required.

• Carry out site surveys to support network builds, enhancements, or decommissions.

• Assist in organizing site access, equipment staging, and various other tasks.

• Perform additional duties as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate's degree (A.A) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, along with 2 to 5 years of relevant experience and/or training; or a comparable combination of education and experience.

• Build and maintain productive relationships both internally and externally.

• Utilize judgment within established procedures and practices to determine suitable actions.

• Knowledgeable in data center and POP infrastructure, with experience or a deep understanding of OSP, ISP, interfacility cabling, fiber and copper distribution, AC/DC power systems, environmental controls, and relay rack/cabinet/cage construction.

• Familiarity with the installation and maintenance of a diverse range of telecom/network equipment, including DWDMs, backbone and management routers, IP switches, as well as all optical and digital infrastructure.

• Comprehension of splicing, along with knowledge of how to operate and maintain equipment in a manhole, vault, or handhole environment.

• Proficient in telecommunications testing equipment, from microscopes and source/power meters to OTDRs, with experience in testing across all SONET and Ethernet bandwidths.

• Familiar with telecommunications testing standards and procedures, covering length, wire-mapping, bit error rate, power, delay, loss, reflectance, and dispersion.

• Knowledge of state and local regulatory standards, procedures, and permitting requirements.

• Ability to effectively collaborate with local exchange carrier (LEC) and other telecom service provider technicians, building landlords, electricians, construction operators, and non-technical end users.

• Capable of working independently, diagnosing issues, and taking appropriate action with minimal supervision.

• Experience with spreadsheets, workflow and project management applications, and administrative software applications.

• Familiarity with utilizing a Tier-1 ITSM platform.
