Field Service Technician – Commercial Roofing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Serve as the main trainer for on-roof quality inspections and in-shop contractor training for new Technical Services personnel.

• Act as a liaison with the contractor community for IKO’s new US commercial roofing division.

• Conduct quality control inspections to ensure high-quality workmanship on IKO warrantied installations.

• Educate and train new Field Service Technicians on on-roof inspection techniques and in-shop contractor training.

• Provide reports on trainee performance and progress to the Technical Manager, Single Ply Systems.

• Collaborate with commercial contractors and carry out quality assurance inspections on ongoing and completed commercial roofing projects.

• Develop and deliver theoretical and practical training on commercial products for both existing and potential Registered Contractors.

• Create written inspection and quality assurance reports for both internal and external clients.

• Partner with the contracting community and distribution network to promote product education.

• Investigate warranty claims when necessary.

• Attend relevant association events to showcase IKO Commercial products.

• Participate in internal meetings, functions, and company-sponsored training as required.

• Comply with Health and Safety policies and IKO Vehicle regulations.

• Carry out other assigned duties as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of direct hands-on experience in the commercial roofing sector.

• Extensive background in training single-ply roofing techniques (TPO and PVC) in line with established standards and practices.

• Experience with quality assurance and roof inspections in collaboration with roofing contractors.

• Proficiency in reading technical roofing documentation and specifications.

• Highly skilled in demonstrating and presenting product applications, whether hands-on or in a presentation format.

• Proven ability to train individuals and groups in single-ply roofing methods.

• A passion for quality workmanship while fostering enduring customer relationships.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Capability to work with contractors and effectively communicate the advantages of IKO commercial products.

• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities.

• Availability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

• Willingness to travel within the designated territory, possibly requiring overnight stays.

• Frequent travel and site visits may be expected.
