Field Service Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Conduct regular maintenance and inspections at Ports of Entry on deployed equipment, which includes License Plate Reader (LPR) systems, RFID, network/power systems, signage, and communication devices.

• Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, ascertain root causes, and perform timely repairs to reduce downtime.

• Install new systems and equipment in accordance with SAIC specifications and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

• Work alongside internal teams and external vendors for equipment upgrades, replacements, and enhancements.

• Comply with CBP and SAIC IT security, physical security, operations security, OSHA, and local safety regulations.

• Keep detailed records of equipment maintenance tasks, schedules, repair histories, and inventory levels.

• Address emergency repair requests and provide on-call support as needed during business hours from Monday to Friday.

• Engage professionally with CBP personnel, Border Patrol, vendors, and the traveling public.

• Travel to US Customs Ports of Entry and Border Patrol locations in the Tucson region, as well as potentially other US border sites for installations and issue resolutions.


⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience are required; alternatively, an additional 4 years of experience may be accepted in lieu of the degree.

• A strong preference for candidates with 6 years of experience as a Field Service Technician or Equipment Installation Technician.

• Must currently reside in the Tucson area.

• Capability to drive daily to job sites located up to 150 miles away.

• Strong technical aptitude in troubleshooting and repairing complex electronic and mechanical systems.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to draft reports.

• Familiarity with diagnostic tools, hand tools, power tools, and computer software necessary for equipment maintenance and repair.

• Ability to communicate technical information effectively to non-technical stakeholders.

• Capacity to maintain precise records and documentation.

• Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision while also collaborating as part of a team.

• Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and schedules.

• Understanding of basic low-voltage electrical wiring principles.

• Technical expertise with CAT 6 signal cabling, including testing and termination.

• Willingness to travel to other US border locations for periods of up to two weeks.

• US citizenship is required.

• Must be eligible to obtain a DHS Public Trust prior to commencement of employment.

• A drug screening is required as part of the CBP Background Investigation prior to starting.

• Experience with multimode fiber installation and troubleshooting is strongly preferred.

• An active DHS Public Trust is highly desired.
