This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa, +2 more states.
• Perform on-site installation of advanced equipment and adhere to testing protocols to ensure proper functionality.
• Execute scheduled maintenance visits on-site as part of a planned service routine.
• Offer diagnostic and repair assistance to customers and field personnel.
• Foster and maintain positive working relationships with customers, system users, and company staff.
• Travel frequently, often with little notice, to customer locations to troubleshoot issues or support fellow field service staff.
• Complete and submit detailed field service reports.
• Deliver training to customers and users on system maintenance practices.
• Provide constructive feedback to product quality teams.
• Contribute to the writing and updating of various documentation related to Thermo Fisher systems.
• Guide the preparation of various reports, including identifying and isolating unresolved issues with the system.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for training purposes.
• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years of hands-on technical experience in electronic systems.
• Experience in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating advanced analysis instruments such as SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar systems.
• In-depth knowledge and substantial experience in diagnosing and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems, or equivalent systems.
• Proficient in effectively communicating with customers.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills; must possess professional working proficiency in English.
• Proven track record of repairing complex systems and subsystems at the component level.
• Proficient in MS DOS and Windows software environments.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics.
• Familiar with UHV phenomena and technologies.
• Must be able to obtain a valid passport for regional and international travel as necessary.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Physical requirements include the capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Capable of lifting 40 lbs. without assistance.
• Some level of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required.
• Exposure to hazardous/toxic materials during work.
