This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Serve as a prominent presence and safety resource in the field to guarantee a secure working environment for all Valard employees, contractors, and visitors in accordance with the Site Safety Management Plan (SMP).
• Communicate, coach, and assist field personnel to ensure that all safety expectations are fulfilled.
• Participate in and support supervisors and foremen in investigating incidents to identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Engage in regular meetings with project safety teams to assess issues, trends, and forthcoming conditions or events, ensuring safety obligations are fulfilled as per client agreements and communicated to the Project Manager and Supervisors.
• Review daily tailboards to ensure hazards are addressed and mitigation processes are established; provide feedback to workers to aid in compliance.
• Conduct observations, inspections, emergency preparedness drills, and communicate findings through safety meetings and postings.
• Facilitate weekly safety meetings, document minutes, and prepare weekly and monthly safety reports.
• Support supervisors and foremen in ensuring that Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) are developed, reviewed with crews, and accessible at the work site.
• Implement and uphold the requirements of Valard's Health, Safety and Environmental Manual across all field activities.
• Regularly review and stay informed of all applicable legislation and standards, notifying Project Manager(s) of any relevant updates.
• Post-secondary education in a related discipline.
• 5 years of experience in construction site safety.
• A combination of education and experience may be taken into consideration.
• National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) Certification.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Proven experience in addressing client requirements and providing administrative support related to safety.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract for review.
• Demonstrated knowledge of applicable provincial legislation (Nova Scotia and New Brunswick).
• **Preferred Skills / Qualifications**
• Proven experience in supporting electrical construction projects.
• CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) certification.
• Familiarity with applicable provincial legislation.
• Experience in root cause investigations.
